About "Tamanawas Falls"
In July of 1991, I made my first hike to Tamanawas Falls in the Mount Hood National Forest. I had seen a few pictures of the falls, but was unsure exactly what to expect in terms of being able to find a suitable foreground for an image. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a beautiful steam below the falls and that it would be relatively easy to access the stream for my shot. I could also tell that to get the shot I wanted I would probably end up getting wet! The framing of this image required me to stand in the stream, and since I wanted to use my 50mm wide angle lens I knew I would have to setup close to the falls. Anyone who has ever tried to photograph a water fall up close knows that they invariably create their own swirling winds and mist. It was a damp experience for me, but the image I created made it all worthwhile.
