About "Monarch of the Cascades"
I captured this very striking image of Mount Rainier with my 500mm lens from high in the Tatoosh Range on a late October evening right before sunset. Low clouds were drifting in from the west, which totally obscured the base of the giant volcano and gave me a very strange feeling of isolation, as if I were suddenly the only person on the planet. Moments later, several bands of high wispy clouds started expanding beyond Rainier's summit. The late evening light on the summit glacier, and the dusting of fresh snow only added to the surreal experience and presented me with one of my most memorable experiences... and images of this magnificent mountain.
